DETROIT—Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV on Friday issued a recall for more than 162,000 late model Chrysler Pacifica minivans to fix a software flaw that could stall out vehicles while being driven.

The recall is a sign of auto makers’ growing reliance on software to run or monitor critical functions, and the need for patches when flaws are detected. For Fiat Chrysler, it follows two other unrelated recalls affecting the new minivan model, which made its debut in 2016.
