PBMares Wealth Management, a division of Newport News-based PBMares, has hired Shelly Braden and Kurt Johnson to help increase the firm’s footprint across the region.

“We are expanding our team to better serve our clients’ increasing needs,” said Rob Klingensmith, director of PBMares Wealth Management. “Shelly and Kurt have strong backgrounds in wealth management and their experience will help our clients better plan for their future prosperity.”

Braden, a wealth adviser in the Newport News office, is a certified financial planner and joins the firm after serving as a registered investment adviser in Los Angeles, according to a news release.

Johnson, a senior wealth adviser in the Harrisonburg office, is also a certified financial planner and carries the FINRA Series 7 & 63 and VA Life and Health Insurance Licenses. Prior to PBMares, he worked at TIAA and Fidelity Investments as a financial adviser.

The PBMares wealth management team is comprised of certified public accountants, certified financial planners and registered investment advisers who specialize in customized investment management and financial planning.
